MyEvent Labs
Tab Cleaner privacy
Tab Cleaner closes duplicate tabs and can group, sort and ungroup tabs when you click its toolbar button. It is built to keep your browsing private.
What it reads
When you click the button, Tab Cleaner asks your browser for the open
tabs so it can group them by website and preview what would be closed.
This uses the tabs permission. It also names and ungroups
tab groups (tabGroups) and stores your settings and an
anonymous id (storage). Nothing happens until you click.
Your browsing stays local
- Tab URLs, titles and websites are compared in memory, inside your browser, and are never sent anywhere.
- They are never stored, logged, sold or shared, and there is no advertising or remote code.
- Tab Cleaner never changes browser settings and never closes a pinned tab.
Anonymous usage data (on by default)
Tab Cleaner sends MyEvent Labs anonymous counts of what it did - for example, "three duplicate tabs were closed" or "the tabs were sorted". This helps improve the extension. It contains no URLs, no titles, no domains and no browsing content, and no account. The anonymous id is a random value stored on your machine; it is never derived from hardware or account data. You can turn this off at any time with the Share anonymous usage data switch at the bottom of the popup.
The extension also checks for a newer version by fetching a small file from MyEvent Labs. That request sends no tab data.
